New Puppy Owners

​At Stonyridge Kennels, our goal is to breed high-quality Wirehaired Pointing Griffons for hunting and life-long companionship. We select our sires and dams for their hunting traits and breed confirmation. Test data and genetic evaluation is important to us and we try to use sound judgment when matching our progeny. We have achieved over 20 NAVHDA NA Breeders Awards from our past litters and hope to maintain that consistency in the next.

Our purebred Wirehaired Pointing Griffons are very personable and do best with daily contact and interaction. We try to place pups where they will be loved and cared for, and given the chance to develop into the hunting dogs they were bred to be. We recommend that new owners join a local NAVHDA chapter to aid in the training and development of the natural ability of their pup and request them to NA test their pup prior to sixteen months of age. We also request that prospective owners have a hip evaluation by OFA or PennHIP given at the appropriate time to aid in the genetic development of the breed.

​When raising a litter of pups, we do all we can to evaluate them, and have them well socialized with people and other dogs. We do "Early Neurological Stimulation" and introduce pups to game such as pheasant wings and quail. We also start loud sound conditioning and water exposure at an early age. The pups will be "up to date" on vaccinations and have a full health certificate. They will be micro chipped with an individual identification and have a complete NAVHDA pedigree. We strive to give our puppies plenty of contact with people and children and encourage new owners to stop in and visit them if possible.

If you are interested in a pup, please fill out the Puppy Prospect Sheet below and return with your detailed information on your type of dog preferences, hunting style, geographic location, and your home setting. We do not use a 1st pick-2nd pick system in pup selection, but rather we place all our puppies and try to give everyone a pup as close to their personal preferences as possible. 

 We have a 2-year Breeder's Agreement that we will use at the time of "puppy pick-up" when the pups are around 7 1/2 to 8 weeks of age.
